GIVE ME A THOUSAND KISSES The female muse the inspirer from 1910 to today
From 18/07/2012To 18/08/2012

Woman is the protagonist of the exhibition in Montepulciano in the thirteenth century salon of the Logge della Mercanzia. Woman as the body or as the character, women as a precious friend or misunderstood enemy, woman as a lover or mother, women as being strong or being weak. In art every aspect has been cultivated, but never in its entirety.
The Nineteen hundreds saw numerous artists, including all the greats, capturing the ichnography of the nude and the portrait of the female figure. A selections of masterpieces of exemplary works are today on show at the Galleria Cerri Arte : “Standing nudes in the wood ” from 1961 by Felice Casorati , “ Three nudes “ from 1910 by Cesare Ferro, “The sleeper “ by Ruggero Alfredo Michahelles (Ram). Continuing in the historical section, two extraordinary works by Felice Carena have become the fulcrum of the exhibition: the severe “Portrait of a mother” from 1912 with the great expressive synthesis and the “Reclining Nude” from 1930 where the light and the sensual plasticity of the body is emphasized to its maximum its expressive vitality. A parallel of an ideal figure of a woman that goes beyond the body, the mystery and the seduction.
In a period in which the role of women is talked about a great deal within today’s society, five painters, for the contemporary section, capable of penetrating the territory of the female unconscious and interpreting and representing in painting the subject most love of all time, offering us their point of view to stimulate reflections and to put questions about the figure of women today. Not only portraits of women therefore, but an entire female world. The theme is analysed in its more extensive sense, from the face to the entire figure; a kaleidoscope model of a society in very rapid transformation.
The different artistic languages make a connecting bridge, opening a dialogue between the female world full of problems, duress and sufferance but also bringing us serenity and purity. A heritage of emotion that takes with it an incomprehensible sense of Life.
The dreamlike figures by Vincenzo Calli, imperturbable and eternal, floating in spiritual motionless dimensions; the posing models full of intimate sensuality by Andre Facchini; with his painting full of vigorous expressive vitality Claudio Malacarne gives back to us a female dripping with existential humour; to the internal domestic walls pure like in the archives of the memory revealing the melancholy women of Morena Marini ; through poetic and refined lyrical precision the figures of Massimo Vinattieri materialize in a rarefied environment of “prose”. Completing this ideal voyage are the bronze works of the sculpture Claudio Nicoli, the female “form” in mythical images with very modern influences.
GIVE ME A THOUSAND KISSES are passions, state of the heart, an allegory of times in which life corresponds to the aesthetics of art.
